Art Deco

The waiting room at the Harley

The Harley

Working in 'The Harley', one of Christchurch's fine Art Deco era buildings, stimulated Dr McKellar to refurbish his rooms in Art Deco style.

The rooms became a conversation piece and featured on national television.

Art Deco

Art Deco was a design movement that peaked in the 1920s. Designs from this era are found in architecture, industry, art, and clothing.

Key elements of Art Deco design are elegance, the integration of form and function, the incorporation of new materials and a sense of optimism and forward movement.
